Shawna’s Story – a Student at Destiny Point

Hi, my name is Shawna. I’m only 28 years old! At an early age, I was sexually abused by my stepdad, and at 7 years old I ran away with my baby sister so she would not be abused! We were shuffled between foster homes and was finally adopted at age 14 by a loving woman!.. To ease the pain, of my past, I became addicted to drugs. And 6 months after I was adopted, my biological mom committed suicide! Years later I realized that I was heading down the same road as her!
I’m from Kansas and it’s only been the last few years that my dad (David Sabo)
and I have started to build a relationship together and I’m so thankful that he helped me to get into Destiny Point Women’s Restoration Home! He knew all the other options I tried never worked.
Being at Destiny Point is an opportunity for me to change the rest of my life! I have only been here for a couple of weeks, but since coming I have experienced how to be accountable for my punctuality by waking up and being prepared for the day and on time for my classes. Also, having a dress code has shown me what it will be like to get ready for a job each day.
And… I already have started working through past hurts and issues, which is such a relief! I’m realizing that God loves ME!
I am so grateful for the opportunity to come here. It gives me hope for my future and to build a closer relationship with my real dad! Yes my name is Shawna, and I’m only 28 years old, and I now have a wonderful future to look forward to! Thank you SO much!
